Instructions
Cooking moong dal:
Wash moong dal under running cold water till water runs clear.
Take moong dal with 1 cup of water in pressure cooker.
Close the lid, put the weight on and cook it for 2 whistles on medium heat.
Let the pressure go down by itself, open the lid.
Add another 1 cup of water and salt. Mix well and mash the dal with back of the spoon little bit. Turn the heat back on medium and simmer for 2 minutes.
Making tadka:
Heat the oil in small pan on medium heat.
Once hot add mustard seeds, let them pop.
Then add cumin seeds, let them sizzle.
Add chopped tomatoes, cook for a minute.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder and jaggery. Mix.
Cook it for 1-2 minutes or till tomatoes get soften and oil starts to separate.
