🧾 Ingredients For Date Energy Balls
- Dates: I prefer to use Medjool dates. They are big, rich, juicy and plump with soft skin. Any variety works as long as they’re soft, moist and not overly dry.
- Almonds: You can use your choice of nuts like pecans, walnuts, cashews, etc.
- Desiccated coconut: I used the one I get from Indian grocery stores which are very finely shredded. I have tried with unsweetened shredded coconut and it works fine too. Be sure to use unsweetened.
- Cocoa powder: It provides enough chocolatey flavor. I have used regular baking type unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Chia seeds: It provides more nutritional value to the date energy balls. It is optional though. You can try adding flaxseed meal or sabja seeds (aka falooda seeds).
- Ghee: It gives a nice flavor to coconut date balls. To make it vegan, you can use coconut oil instead.
