These can be made during the festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Raksha bandhan, Holi and so on. During the festivals we have lot of work like cleaning, decorating house and preparing other things. So in the short of time, this ladoo recipe comes handy. It is very quick and easy to make with few ingredients.

In this ladoo, I have added tutti frutti which make it very beautiful looking and it goes perfect with coconut flavor. Kids always love colorful food. Alternately you can add nuts (almonds, cashews) or raisins.

‘Boora’ or ‘Tagar’ is used for making this ladoo. It is easily available in India. Here I have used Powdered sugar instead which works perfectly fine as well. But I do not recommend adding regular white granulated sugar.

There are many different ways of making coconut ladoo. So far I know four methods:

    • Coconut ladoo made with Khoya -Today I shared this recipe. does not need expertise, beginners can make it very easily.
    • made with sugar syrup: For this type, sugar syrup is made till you get one string consistency meaning 'ek taar chasni'. This requires expertise and little difficult for new bees, but still not that hard if you have proper instructions.
    • made with condensed milk - this one is also very quick to make just like today’s recipe. I will be sharing this soon.
    • no cook version - made with dry coconut and condensed milk only.

I am sharing the this recipe for Ganesh Chaturthi Festival as ladoos are Lord Ganesha’s most favorite food apart from the Modak.

    3) Keep cooking till it gets very little light brown in color and will leave the sides of the pan. It took me about 3 minutes. If making larger batch then you need to cook it little longer.

    4) Remove it to a bowl and let it cool to touch or warm.

    5) Then add desiccated coconut and powdered sugar.

    6) Mix well with your fingertips.

If you like coconut then you will sure love this coconut ladoo.

Serving suggestion: Serve as a dessert. Or enjoy it anytime of the day. You can offer to lord Ganesha as a bhog/Naivedyam during the Ganesh chaturthi festival.

      Hi,

I tried this recipe with the same amount of ingredients. But, for some reason the mawa didn't melt (even though I cooked it for around 8 min. in low flame). Any idea why ? Though the laddoos turned out tasty but I am still wondering.

Not sure, I have not faced this issue.
It could be that your mawa is really dry. If it does not have any moisture then it will not melt. I am not 100% sure that this is the reason, I am assuming.

Khoya is must in this recipe. It works as binding agent. Instead you can skip the sugar and khoya and add sweetened condensed milk. Taste and texture will be different

Thank you Nupur. If knoya is not available then you can make Instant khoya using milk powder or you can make traditional homemade khoya from milk.
