Palak Moong Dal (Dal Palak Recipe) - very quick and easy to make HEALTHY recipe made from spinach and yellow moong dal (split green gram).

This dal palak recipe requires very minimal ingredients. Still it tastes very delicious and flavorful.

    palak moong dal recipe

I do make many dal recipes which include greens like methi dal, beet greens dal, dill leaves dal. This is one good way to include green leafy vegetables in your diet. This kind of dal is perfect for those kids who do not like to eat greens as a side dish.

Please adjust the chili if making for kids.

This palak moong dal tastes best when it served with plain rice. But sometimes I like to have it as a soup as such.

How to make Moong Dal Palak recipe?

    1) Wash moong dal in a running cold water until water runs clear.

    2) Add into pressure cooker with 1 ½ cups of water and cook it for 2 whistles on medium heat. Let the pressure go down by itself, open the cover and keep the dal aside.

If not serving right away then keep the pan covered to keep the dal warm for some time.

Serving suggestion: Dal palak can be served with plain rice or jeera rice or mild flavored pulao (e.g. veg pulao, matar pulao). It can be served as a side with paratha or roti.

Hi Kanan, It was always the same Spinach peretal so surfed thru the recipes and prepared this Dhal Palak. It was so aromatic and super tasty. I mixed a spoonful of Ghee with my oil.

I live in Seremban Malaysia and all varieties of herbs and spices are available in the India shop called Madura.

Always eating the Malaysian way of cooking Indian dishes, I am beginning to cook real Indian and I love it so much. It is a great way to slowly becoming a vegetarian.

Will check on your other recipes. Thank you so much, Kanan.5 stars
