Dahi Papdi Chaat Recipe (How to Make Dahi Papdi Chaat Recipe)

Dahi Papdi Chaat Recipe - The popular North Indian street food, papdi chaat recipe is now also available everywhere in India including Mumbai. As a Mumbai street food it is called dahi papdi chaat. It has slightly different taste due to extra ingredients added here.

As you know that at home we love any recipes using chole and I at least make it once a week. So the one week I made chana masala, I saved few boiled chickpeas to use in this recipe.

Instead of boiled chana you can use mung sprouts or boiled moong beans.

To get the best taste of the dahi papdi chaat always use the chilled yogurt. I also like to use the refrigerated chilled chutneys.

Here I have used homemade papdi. You can use store bought one too. Or want some healthy option, try this baked papdi.

    1) First make all three chutneys. You can make them ahead of time in the morning or a day before and keep them in the refrigerator.

    2) Also soak the chickpeas a day before and next day boil them till soft. Or you can save some boiled chole (if made chole masala few days ago) and keep in the refrigerator

    3) Boil the potatoes in the pressure cooker or use the leftover boiled potato.

    4) Now to make the yogurt mixture. Take plain yogurt in a bowl. Add salt, red chili powder, chaat masala and roasted cumin powder.

    5) Whisk well it is smooth. Keep this in the refrigerator because we need chilled yogurt.

    6) To make the spiced potato mixture, take boiled, cubed potatoes in a bowl. Add salt, chaat masala and red chili powder.

    7) Mix well. Keep it aside.

    8) At the time of eating or serving, start assembling it. For that keep all the elements ready on the countertop or table. Arrange 6-7 papdis in a plate.

    9) Add few boiled chickpeas on each papdi.

    10) Then add spiced potatoes.

    11) Now drizzle the green coriander chutney.

    12) Followed by red garlic chutney and tamarind date chutney. Garlic chutney has intense flavor, so add very little around ¼ teaspoon on each papdi.

    13) Then sprinkle chopped onion.

    14) Then add chopped tomatoes.

    15) Now Sprinkle little chaat masala on top.

    16) Now drizzle the yogurt. Personally I would add more yogurt than shown in the photo. Just for the photo purpose I have added less so I can get the clean photo.

    17) Lastly sprinkle the sev on top.

Serve right away before papdi gets soft and soggy.

Serving suggestion: Enjoy dahi papdi chaat as a snack.
