    ❤️You’ll Love This Recipe

Super easy to make: This applesauce bread recipe comes together with basic baking ingredients. Plus, you’ll need only two bowls (one for wet and one for dry, combine both, add nuts and batter is ready).

Healthy: This quick bread is made with unsweetened applesauce, yogurt and some whole wheat flour. Since this is egg-free applesauce bread it is really light that you can feel good about indulging.

Taste: Lightly sweet, perfectly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg that goes well with applesauce flavor.

Texture: It is soft, moist (not dense at all) with a bread-like texture (sturdy enough to hold a slice without breaking).

Freezes Well: Store the leftovers in the freezer (detail instructions below in storage section). Warm it up for breakfast on busy mornings.

I’m sure this eggless applesauce bread will become your new fall favorite though it tastes good in any season. Other fall baked goods: eggless pumpkin bread, eggless apple muffins, eggless pumpkin muffins.

    🧾Ingredient Notes

Here is the pic of the applesauce bread ingredients. The detailed amount is mentioned in the recipe card below. Also, I have shared a few notes about the ingredients that are worth reading.

Applesauce bread ingredients in individual bowls and spoons.
    • Flour: I’m using a mix of all purpose flour and whole wheat flour. Wheat flour adds a nice hearty, nutty flavor.
    • Applesauce: It is highly recommended to use unsweetened applesauce. Make sure it is nice and thick. The runny and sweetened applesauce will alter the texture of the end product.
    • Oil: Always use flavorless or mild flavor oil like canola, corn, vegetable, safflower, avocado oil, etc.
    • Yogurt: Please use full-fat plain yogurt. Instead, you can use greek yogurt or sour cream as well. Use whatever you have on hand.
    • Spices: I like to add ground cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg to my applesauce bread. A must add two warming spices that call for applesauce.
    • Walnuts: I like some bites/crunch in my slice of bread so I have added walnuts. You can try other nuts like pecans, almonds, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, etc. You can try raisins, dried cherries, cranberries, or shredded coconut if you like.

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) for at least 10 minutes.
    • Lightly grease the 9x5x3 inches loaf pan using oil or butter. Or spray with oil spray. Keep it aside until needed.

    1) In a bowl, take dry ingredients (all purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, nutmeg and salt).

    2) Whisk it until everything is mixed. Keep it aside.

    3) In another large bowl, take oil, applesauce, yogurt and vanilla.

    7) Now add dry flour mixture into the wet mixture.

    8) Start mixing using a whisk. Halfway through switch to a spatula.

    9) Start mixing using folding motion until batter comes together. Do not overmix.

    10) Add toasted, chopped walnuts.

    11) Fold them into the batter.Transfer the batter into greased loaf pan.

    12) Spread the batter evenly.

    13) Bake into the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes. Check by inserting a spaghetti or skewer in the center on the loaf pan and it should come out clean. Remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan itself for 10 minutes. Then loosen the sides using a butter knife and invert it onto the cooling rack and let it cool down completely, slice, and serve.

    💭Expert Tips

Don’t overmix the batter. This is so important while making quick bread or muffins. Always start with a whisk and halfway through switch to a spatula or wooden spoon. From there start folding until everything is combined. Few lumps are absolutely fine.

Add spices to your taste. I have added a full tablespoon of cinnamon as my family prefers it. You can reduce the amount as per your liking. Or try with pumpkin pie spice, it will be good.

Use the right type of applesauce. Always use thick, unsweetened smooth applesauce. If yours is chunky then make it smooth into the blender. (if you prefer chunky bread, then add 1 chopped apple into the applesauce bread batter.) Also, runny, watery or sweet applesauce won’t give the good quick bread texture.

    🍞 Storage Instructions

    • At room temperature: It can be kept on the counter for a few days in an airtight container.
    • In the refrigerator: It stays good for up to a week.
    • In the Freezer: Applesauce bread can be stored for up to 3 months.

How to freeze? Wrap the individual applesauce bread slices using plastic wrap. And store them into the freezer-safe ziplock bag and freeze.

Thaw or Reheating: Unwarp the slice, place it into a plate and microwave it for 30-45 seconds. Check if it needs a few more minutes and enjoy. Do not overheat into the microwave otherwise, it may start to dry out and becomes chewy.
