Mango Mastani
Super delicious Mango Mastani recipe! This easy-to-make, popular drink from Pune is nothing but a thick mango milkshake, topped with ice cream, nuts, tutti frutti, and a cherry.
The History
Mango Mastani was created at Gujjar Cold Drinks in Pune. The place was started by BM Gujjar’s grandfather in 1933, and it originally served a drink called “ice cream cold drink” made from their special mango syrup, ice cream and milk. In 1970s, the drink became popular, and customers started calling it “Mast” (means ‘amazing’) like Mastani (Peshwa Bajirao’s lover who was known for her beauty and elegance). That’s how this drink got its name ‘Mango Mastani’.
