Whole masoor dal recipe (how to make sabut masoor dal recipe)

Whole masoor is also known as Sabut masoor, akha masoor or whole brown lentils. If they are whole then brown in color, but when it split in half then orange in color from inside.

Making whole masoor dal requires very basic ingredients meaning no fancy ingredients. Onion-tomato based punjabi masala is made first. Then added boiled masoor and simmered in the gravy, in this step whole masoor with absorb the flavors and will become delicious and tasty.

This sabut masoor dal is usually served with rice or paratha. But you can have it as such as a soup (I would suggest – remove one serving in a bowl, garnish with raw finely chopped onion, tomato. It will taste fantastic).

The recipe I shared here is very homey and healthy kind. If you want to make it little on creamier side and rich then skip the lemon juice and add 2 tablespoons of heavy cream.

The consistency of the dal is medium, not too thick or too thin. But of course you can adjust as per your liking.
